Artist's Comments

The work is done...
It is designed with ps 6.0 in mind but it should work for the later versions as well...
If you find this helpful please fav or comment so I know that I should even bother with making more of these...

alright, I don't think I should have to say fullview is the only way to go on this one :D if you can read it without the full view. Well, my hat is off for you then.

I will also post the lineart for the drawing I used in the tutorial soon.

edit: Here is the [link] for the pencils of the picture I used, and Here is the [link] for the final picture after I used the the above style.

Time: 5 hours.
Screen Shots: 9 of them
Brain Power Used: way too much, maybe around 70%...

that seems like a VERY long way to go about it. Couldn't you just make an extra layer over the original, maybe at a low opacity so as to be able to see what you are doing and use the pencil (for hard edge, paintbrush for featherd soft ones) tool to go over each line? I mean, of corse this works a LOT better if you have a tablet as you can control the thickness of each stroke. But even if you only have a mouse it's got to be quicker more accurate and more reliable then the pen method, as you can see what the final result will look like and make appropriate changes as you procress.
ya?

You have a point there. Just this is the only way I've found to get it to look like a vector without doing it as a vector (if that makes any sense?). And I don't use a tablet or a mouse just the touchpad on my laptop. So I really can't draw on the computer just using the pencil and brush, but with this methed I can control the shape of the line with out needing the exact control needed other wise.

Ummm...what was I gonna say?

fair enough, though I'm not sure what the attraction is with vector, that's an individual opinion. I reckon if you're going to have photoshop, you should at least have a mouse, the program's wasted with out even that.

I just like the style a vector look adds to some of my drawings. I want to get a tablet pretty soon here, but until then I'll just keep plugging alone with my poor little touchpad :D

hint, don't dispair if the tablet isn't what you expect. I thought it would be just like using a pencil, that it would be entirely natural. At first, it isn't. the pen slips rather then scrapes across what is plastic, not rough (by comparison) paper. But you get used to it, and it does become natural. I thought after a while with the tablet: "how did I ever manage with a mouse?". And a mouse is a lot better then a touchpad.
